Description
Full edition for scientific use. The Austrian Socio-Economic Panel (ASEP) is a multi-topic, large-scale, annually conducted longitudinal survey. It collects data on the household and individual level, representative of the Austrian population living in private households. This dataset contains the survey data of the second wave of the pilot study of ASEP in the year 2024. The net sample size was 1845 persons living in 916 households. The dataset consists of data on the household, on each person living in the household, and on their relations to each other. It covers a broad range of topics, such as family, demography, education, work, income, housing, and health as well as attitudes, personality, and behaviour. This dataset can be linked to the first pilot wave of ASEP in the year 2023 for longitudinal research. About 60% of the measured items are collected annually (core questionnaire), while 40% of the items are part of open modules and rotating modules. Data was collected from October 2024 to February 2025 via a mixed-mode design. That led to a 17% CAPI, 71% CAWI and 12% CATI mode composition of the net sample. In the first pilot wave, households were randomly selected from the Central Register of Main Residence in Austria. The gross sample of this second pilot wave comprises households that fully participated in the previous year. Household members aged 15 and above received an individual questionnaire. For household members aged under 15, their legal guardians were asked to fill out a questionnaire on child-related topics on their behalf. Furthermore, a questionnaire on household-related topics was answered by one representative of the household aged 18 or above.
